Perinatal Therapy
With Kait Towner, LMHC, CCPT, PMH-C
As a certified therapist in perinatal mental health (and a mom of two wild boys), I’m in the trenches with women who are overwhelmed by the emotional weight of motherhood.
Are you constantly on edge?
Do you wonder why everything feels so hard when you thought it would feel different?
Does no one sees how much you’re holding together inside?
Maybe you’re doing everything you’re “supposed to do,” but still angry, drained, or disconnected.
Motherhood can bring joy and also bring out emotions that feel confusing, intense, or unfamiliar. When your nervous system is overloaded, even small things can feel like too much.
Moms Come To Me When They Experience:
Intrusive baby worry
Lots of what-ifs
Birth that still feels heavy
Feeling “not myself”
Irritability more than normal
Feel like they’re running on auto-pilot
Eating changes
Trouble sleeping
Disconnection from partner
“The transition to motherhood hits hard. I know, and I can help.”
What Perinatal Therapy With Me Is Like
Therapy with me is structured, collaborative, and deeply tailored to you. We don’t use one-size-fits-all approaches. Instead, we start with a detailed intake so we understand your story, your nervous system, and what you need most right now.
When starting with me: the first few sessions focus on building trust and understanding your patterns. Around session three, we begin integrating tools and deeper emotional work at a pace that feels safe and manageable.
You stay involved in every step. I never push. And we work together.
Modalities I Use
-
Helps identify and shift thought patterns like self-blame, “I should be handling this better,” and overwhelm thinking. Supports more grounded, realistic self-talk.
-
Builds emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and tools for moments when anger or overwhelm feel like they take over.
-
Supports relationship stress, identity shifts in motherhood, and improving communication with partners and loved ones.
-
Helps process stored emotional and body-based trauma, including birth trauma and overwhelming experiences that feel stuck in the nervous system.
“We will share experiences together because I pride myself on being a ‘real human’ in therapy. ”
Feel More Like Yourself Again.
You don’t have to stay overwhelmed.
Change becomes possible when your nervous system starts to feel supported.
After Perinatal Therapy With Me, Clients Report:
Less emotional reactivity
They’re more patient
Reduced mom rage
Better sleep + recovery
Stronger connection to self
Improved relationship with partner
A calmer home environment
Easier communication
About Kait Towner, LMHC, CCPT, PMH-C
I hold a Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) and therapy with me is grounded in real life, not perfection.
As both a therapist and a mother, I've experienced firsthand how pregnancy, birth, and parenting bring up emotions, challenges, and parts of ourselves we never anticipated. I know what it's like to carry the mental load, question yourself, and wonder if you're the only one struggling.
I work with mothers navigating mom rage, birth trauma, postpartum overwhelm, and the identity shift that comes with having children. Sessions with me are collaborative, down to earth, and honest.
We slow things down, make sense of what’s happening, and build tools that actually fit your life.
Outside of therapy, I'm also a mom of two wild red-headed boys. I love the Thousand Islands, reading, and my cats who may occasionally make guest appearances during virtual sessions.
Availability: I provide online therapy for clients throughout New York.
